Rock-A-Bye Baby

As I mentioned earlier in another post I am flying solo this weekend. When Nick is out of town I usually expect for the days to be long. Today was definitely one of those days. I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious. Ella was unusually clingy and whiney, which is so not like her. She will usually take 2 really good naps each day, but not today. Maybe, it's teeth or a belly ache...who knows. But I did everything humanly possible to appease her. The pediatrician advised me, at her 2 month check-up, to stop rocking her to sleep. So that is exactly what I did. From that day forward I would put her in her crib awake or really sleepy. She got so used to falling asleep on her own that she stopped letting me rock her...ever. But today was different. After several attempts of trying to put her down she would not fall asleep on her own. She screamed loud enough to shatter glass. Finally, I played her lullaby music, rubbed her back, and rocked her straight to sleep. It reminded me of how much I miss doing that. That was the perfect end to a long day. Thank you Ella. Goodnight and sweet dreams.

New BFFs

Nick left last night to go stay at the deer camp; so we are flying solo for a couple of days. He took our lab, Bela, with him. Poor Dallas, she had a mild case of the "missing Bela blues" so we decided to cheer her up by letting her join in and play with us today. (I'm sure that last sentence isn't grammatically correct so don't judge me. I taught Math...not English.) Since day one Dallas has been so interested in Ella and is very protective of her. Lately Ella has really started noticing our 4-legged babies and squeals with delight when she sees them. It is really funny to watch! I snapped some pics of their playdate and here they are. Yes, she has on brown pants only because Nick insisted she have something other than pink. Gotta love him. By the way, Dallas is yawning, not barking. Ella was yawning too.
I'm sure my parents will get a kick out of these.

Two Toofies

I have been a blogging fool today, and completely forgot to mention Ella's 2 teeth in the other post. They have been making their way up for quite a while. I have yet to catch a picture of them, but they are definitely present.

The End

Trip to Chelle's

Last week Ella and I made a trip to Oxford to visit Michelle and Caroline. Michelle was my teaching partner at Sullivan. She got married and moved to Oxford a couple of years ago. The girls are only 10 weeks apart. It's amazing to see what Ella will be doing in the weeks to come. They just played and had a good ole time. Caroline was even kind enough to let Ella borrow her crib to take a nap for a couple of hours. We had a great time and look forward to them visiting us soon. The picture above is me holding Caroline in the hospital the day after she was born. Just thought I would post it too. I was only 10 weeks away. WOW!

5 Months Already???

Christmas has come and gone and so has another month. Ella is growing up so fast! I wish time would slow down just a little bit. A lot has been going on around the Pollan household. We have been trying all sorts of new foods. She's tried sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, peaches, prunes, bananas, and applesauce. She loves them all. Sometimes it's like feeding a hungry bird. It's not the most appetizing thing to watch, but it sure is funny. She puts anything and everything in her mouth and has been drooling like crazy. 6 month pictures are right around the corner and there are shots looming in her future. Fun times, fun times....

These are some pics from the the past few weeks.

I tried...this is as good as it gets
If you click on this picture you can see carrots still in her nose.

Brace yourself...

Ella's very own Christmas tree

because I have a lot to blog about. It's been a while since my last post. I have been such a bad blogger. Hopefully, I will get a chance to post some more in the next few days. These are some pics from Christmas Eve day that I took while we were at my in-laws house. When we got home later that night we decided to try some rice cereal. It was definitely an experience...for all of us. She was a little timid at first, but she quickly got used to it.
